Artist Story — Kevin Sydow aka SOL89

Kevin Sydow, born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, grew up immersed in the sounds and spirit of the 1990s rave era. Surrounded by techno, trance, and house, he developed an early fascination with electronic music and began experimenting with digital production at a young age, long before modern tools became widely accessible.

Operating under the name SOL89 — Sounds of Liberty 1989, his project is rooted in both his birth year and the year of German reunification. The concept of liberty is central to his artistic vision: a form of expression that exists without restriction or exclusion — shaped by unity, respect, and shared experience on the dancefloor.

SOL89 draws inspiration from the full spectrum of 90s rave culture, Trance, Techno, House, Drum & Bass, and Ambient. Rather than following trends, his focus lies on atmosphere and energy flow — creating immersive soundscapes where rhythm, texture, and emotion merge into a continuous journey.

Over the years, SOL89 has released numerous tracks and bootlegs across major streaming platforms and digital stores, supported by visual releases on YouTube.
